LSH 2903 Community Service Final Reflection

1: Organization
In the UAE there are many volunteering organization and Takatof is one of these. Takatof is voluntary social program which established in 2007. They communicate with any organization need help in there events and any one can be part of this social programs. There are many projects along the year and that depend on the events we have in our country also the other social events in the organizations that will need help.
2: Best Part of Volunteer
The best thing in volunteering that is you feel the main of social responsibility, and feel you are an important part of our country development. As any work I faced many challenges, dealing with people that I do not know them was hard because they have they own way of thinking and deal with things, so it was take a time to understand them and feel comfortable to be with them.

3: Support the community
There are many advantages in this experiment, feeling as a part of community and can help the country by doing easy things make my social responsibility become more. Have an experience with dealing with others will help my communicate skills to be developed. I will be happy to be a volunteer again in the future by same organization because they effort many projects and they are very organized and have good plans.
4: Short summary
Formula 1 is one of most important events which take place in Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. I volunteered in this event  for 30 hours. In this project I have to deal with visitors are come to event.  We have to give information about what they will expect to see and answer their questions. But the most important thing is not to do anything extra without our leader permission. Also we have to communicate with others to share the information or deal with problems if we faced any of any it.

To be successful what needs to be done:
Some of the thing that are needed to be done within the event period are following the trainer exact instructions without making an extra move unless asking for referrals by the instructor. Giving  people some information about what they are looking for throughout the event. And provide assistance in organizing the events and sharing with them the information.
What are the benefits to participants?
The benefits of these events are going to be lifelong skills. Such as guide skills to ensure the audience and the participants be more awarded and affective in their society. Moreover to learn about the government's efforts to make the event deserve to be in the country.
Who are the target audience?
Visitors to the event from different backgrounds.
What problems might came across and how would we try to get around them?
Communication could be a problem or a barrier that face the volunteers, Since English is not their first language and they are still learning to prefect it. However we can overcome it by technology such as online translating. The volunteers must be patient as much as they can because there are few people who are ignoring them since they want to help them.

Exercise #5

Have a look at this page on the internet:

This page has some ideas about how people can volunteer through education projects.

Once you have read through the pages, you need to work in groups of 4 or 5.
In your groups, come up with a project which you think can be advanced through an educational setting. There are no restrictions, but your idea should be innovative and should aim at adding real value to the people you are trying to help.

As you are working through your project, one of you should be putting together a short presentation (PowerPoint, etc) to explain to the rest of the group what you are trying to achieve.

You should aim to cover the following points, at least.

1.                  What are the aims of the project
2.                  Who are the target audience, and why?
3.                  What activities would your project involve?
4.                  Who would be volunteering? Why?
5.                  What are the benefits your project could bring to the target audience?
6.                  How would you look into launching your project with reference to the relevant authorities in the UAE and in the country you have targeted?
7.                  What problems do you think you might come across and how would you try to get around them?

You should aim at one or two of your group making a 4-6 minute presentation to the rest of the group explaining your findings.
